Edge into Space is an exciting competition that uses the inspirational value of space to develop teamwork, enterprise and practical skills in students in the United Kingdom in years 9-12 at school or in the first year of college.

NASA has produced data to support the link between achievements in space and increased student interest in science and engineering.

What teacher wouldn't want to give their students the opportunity of a lifetime - the chance to win a trip to America, and work with astronauts and space scientists at NASA's Kennedy and Johnson Space Centres?

It's a simple concept - Edge into Space wants them to come up with an idea for something that could be used in space.

It could be an idea involving science, IT, or design and technology that they complete in their own time, or even be a communication idea and relate to a lesson. The possibilities are only limited by their imaginations.

The competition is organised by ISSET, the International Space School Educational Trust, and supported by Edge, a charity foundation campaigning to promote the status of practical learning.

Entry details are here.
